30th January 2009 – Prague, Czech Republic, EU–  Pixmac is starting a unique promotion – offering all contributors an opportunity to get money for their pictures even before they’re sold.

Great Opportunity for photographers!

From 1st February 2009, all contributors who upload their pictures on Pixmac will get a $500 sales guarantee for 2 years for every 500 approved pictures. If you want to get the cash immediately, you can choose the option to get $100 for every 500 approved pictures – before having had any sales. Portfolios preferred include high quality pictures with people or isolated objects on a white background. This unique opportunity lasts until 28th  February 2009.

Detailed conditions

The contributor can choose from 2 options.

First

$500 sales guarantee for 2 years for every 500 pictures uploaded and approved on Pixmac. This means that in 2 years Pixmac will give you $500 even if your sales are 0.

Second

$100 for every 500 pictures uploaded and approved on Pixmac immediately after the 500th picture is approved. This will be an advance payment on the first $100 earned on those pictures.  Pixmac accepts the risk of selling these pictures and in the event that no sales are made, the contributor will retain the money.

Please remember to switch-off autokeywording for the pictures!
All pictures sent for approval must be keyworded by the contributor. Pictures uploaded as part of this promotion are not eligible for free keywording.

One last thing. If you are uploading these days, the process will propably take longer time to publish your pictures on Pixmac. We are making our best, but the number of pictures uploaded is high.

“This unique opportunity lasts until 28th February 2009.” Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question, just want to clarify if this means that 500 hundred pictures have to be approved by this date or this is the last date for enrolment for the program?

  2. You should let us know prior to 28th February that you want to participate, after that we’re ready to discuss individual situations like few photos needed to reach the 500th approved pictures. But prpably not if there are for example 100 approved and 400 rejected pictures.

  3. Sebastian Crocker Says:

    Hi
Would I be automatically included in the program when I start uploading pictures from today or do I need to specifically confirm that I wish to participate? Thanks.
    Seb

    Delay after uploading
We would like to apologise for the time it’s taking at the moment for pictures to appear in your ‘Unfinished’ section after you upload them. There are too many pictures being uploaded right now for our servers to process them as quickly as we would like.
Please be patient, and your pictures will appear in the ‘Unfinished’ section as soon as possible. If you have any problems, please contact us and we will get you sorted out.
Thank you for choosing Pixmac, and once again we would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused by this delay.

  5. microstockposts Says:

Wow, I’ll never get 500 pics. uploaded by the 28th. However it is a good offer for people who can. Seems like Pixmac is making a lot of good moves. Anyone who has read my blog, will know that the free keywording for the normal uploads is something that I think is the responsibility of agencies anyway. I will join just for that, but maybe next month, looks like your servers have enough to handle for the moment.

it is a nice promotion, and i have 2 questions:
    - i couldnt see the termination part on your TOS. what is the minimum time for removing portfolio from pixmac?
    - my images are seen on pixmac via fotolia, and also al lot of photographers too, what is the deal on such cases? looking forward for your reply

    • Hello KHZ, thank you for your comment.
      1. Minimum time to keep photos at Pixmac is 2 years.
      2. If you’re at FT, you can still try Pixmac with another pictures than those you have there. But generally, you don’t have to care about duplicities. We do.

    Hi,
    good luck to your project.
I’ve got one question regarding uploads.
Could you please explain how to upload vectors to Pixmac.
I have uploaded some .jpegs and marked them as illustrations. Was it right? Is there any way to submit .eps format as well?
    Thanks in advance

    • Hello and thank you Ojka.

Now, we are accepting just JPGs. We are planning to add vectors soon. If you are marking those vectors re-saved as JPGs set as illustrations, it is great.

  8. [...] remember – don’t wait and get yours $500 for 500 pictures or just try to guess the number of pictures available on Pixmac on 1st March 2009 and win an [...]

  9. Sebastian Crocker Says:

Do the pictures still count towards the 500 if they are already on Fotolia? Thanks.

  10. Nicole Says:

Thanks for contacting me via email today :)
I doubt I will get to the 500, but you at least got me signing up :D

  11. Patrick Says:

1 year is still a long time, much too long.
Secondly i doubt you will get much submitters that can upload 500 images and get them approved since 90 % of them are already on fotolia.
    Patrick.

  12. Hey…

I have almost 400 images in my portfolio. They were uploaded a while ago… How can I participate in this promotion? Do I need to just get another 100+ pics online?

    Thanks! :)

  13. Nicole Says:

Is it possible that a picture takes two hours to show up in the unfinished section?
I uploaded 3 so far. They are not in the “failed” pot either.
    Sigh,….?!

  14. Nicole Says:

Ah, the first one appeared ;)
    (4 hours later)

  15. Hey again..

I just checked my images and it says “Automatic keywording disabled”… Am I ok then? :D

And I’ll have a look at the affiliation program.. thanks! :)

  16. Sebastian Crocker Says:

    Hi
Please can you confirm whether the pictures still count towards the 500 if they are already on Fotolia? Thanks.

  17. Sebastian, you get the cash reward or guarantee reward for all the pictures uploaded on Pixmac website which will be approved and accepted, even in case you have uploaded these pictures previously on FT. These pics will be marked by Pixmac staff as duplicates of FT content but will be counted if approved at Pixmac.

  18. ramona smiers Says:

How long will it take befor the photos are being reviewed. Only 1 is reviewed now, but from a friend of mine already a couple were reviewed and she signed up after me.
    thanks for the answer

    • Ramona, sorry for that. We’re doing our best to make all pictures reviewed within few days. The pictures flow into several cues to our reviewers, so it could be the reason when some reviewer is faster than another.

  19. vasoart Says:

Hello, I must ask you to explicitly confirm that I want to participate in the program for $ 500?
    Sorry for bad English! :)

    • Yes, its better. But we will contact all uploaders who have more than 500 approved photos on Pixmac without autokeywording. But better option is to send an email to us with your nickname and choice ($100 or $500).

  20. ramona smiers Says:

    ok reviewing is happening now
but please let the reviewers gives a right denied reason and not the syupid ones, or not at all.
http://s3.amazonaws.com/pixmac-thumbnail/000012056093.jpg with this comment: Poor styling: The styling of the picture doesn´t meet our criteria of aesthetical quality. You should take care that the styling of models and the styling of the scene is modern. Old fashioned styling, old fashioned hair cut or too much make-up by models declines the aesthetical quality of the picture. Also all objects, for example vegetables or fruits on a picture should be fresh and clean

sorry but I am not getting the reviewers point

    thanks
    Ramona

  21. Nicole Says:

I think you guys are quite busy.
I have no clue how anyone will get 500 pics up and approved in the time being.
It took hours to get a few pics up and they seem to be even further from being approved any time soon.
The site runs so slow that combined with my slow Internet there’ll be no chance for me for sure.
Oh well, I’ll sit back and just wait if the few I uploaded will be approved or not to check the “taste” of this site *shrug* :)

  22. lucian Says:

    Hi there,
I do uplod to Fotolia also +2000 pictures.
That means if I put them also on Pixmac is a waste of time , I wont participate in the promotion ?
    Regards,
    Lucian

  23. Nicole Says:

Thanks for promptly checking on some of my uploads (and approving two) :)
Hope to get more up in the next few days. Somehow Hungary doesn’t like to provide us with Internet past 12 o’clock Lunch time though, grmpf,….

  24. Todd Says:

How do we request payment once 500 are approved? Or does the $100 just come to us automatically?

    • Hello Todd, we are planning to send it after the end of February so it is at once. But prior to that, please send an email to user@pixmac.com and Lucie will take care of your payment. You just have to tell her which option you prefer (100/500), what is your username and where to send it (PayPal or Moneybookers account name). She will make a note of it and send it then. But if you need the money sooner, we can process it right away.

  25. tboz Says:

Has anyone proof read this website! there are some glaring errors in grammer, I’m not the best writer, but it looks as though it was written by a non native english speaker, you folks should hire a professional (english speaking) writer if this is to be a serious website. One example of many – “Creating an account will offer you all facilities of on website, such as Lightbox or statistics” many. many more.

    • Tboz, thank you for this. We know it and we work on it. Actually there is a girl in Pixmac who’s native language is English, but she is pretty busy with programming now. Anyway, you said that loud and we will work on it ASAP.

  26. ramona smiers Says:

    ok one more funny comment
if someone can explain this one to me, please do
    http://s3.amazonaws.com/pixmac-thumbnail/000012068087.jpg

    comment:
Details: You should pay more attention to details. For example, if there are hands visible on the picture, fingers should have a manicure, must be clean, without hangnails. Such details can considerably decrease the quality of the picture if you don´t pay enough attention to them.

  27. Thank you Ramona. We try hard to make our content good. But we’re reselling some content, so that can be problem sometimes. But we’re already working on that, so the bad looking pictures will be almost hidden.

Anyway, what is wrong on that green watering-can with some yellow and blue scissors… ?

How I can choose 100$. When I can find this option???

  30. ichip Says:

About 600 my photos waiting for approval 3 weeks

    Waiting : 2009-02-03

    It is normal?

    • Sorry for that, but it could be the case with some of the photographers. We’re working hard even on weekends to make it faster, but the feedback was really big. After this offer, we will be back to normal which is 2-3 days at most.

  31. ichip Says:

But I’m lost my choice to participate this programm? I’m mailed to the user@pixmac.com and don’t recieve answer.

  32. Sebastian Crocker Says:

    Hi
I suspect you’re all really busy but I would be grateful for a response. I’ve uploaded about 50 files over the last two weeks. All of the images have been accepted but none of them have appeared in my “unfinished section”, which means i cannot complete the submission process. Is there a problem and will it affect my ability to participate in your promotion? In addition about 20% of all my uploaded files have “failed”, but no reason is given. What’s even worse is that I cannot then attempt to re-upload the files. I just get a message stating that the files have already been uploaded. I’ve now got to the stage where I have almost 100 files uploaded that have either not appeared in my unfinished area or have “failed”. Can you provide an explanation? Thanks for your time.

  33. Sebastian Crocker Says:

    Hi
Just as a follow up to my last post – I’ve now successfully uploaded around 100 files and none of them have appeared in my unfinished area. Is there anything you can do to sort this out? I’ve uploaded about 470 photos which have either been accepted or that are waiting. It’ll be really frustrating if I can’t submit the additional 100 odd files, simply because there is a problem with your system. Thanks.
