Pixmac chooses iSyndica as the exclusive upload platform for pictures
Since the beginning, all of us at Pixmac have been putting all of our energy into building a great stock photo site. We are bringing new ideas, searching for optimal settings, changing minds and adding features to exceed customer expectations. Here at Pixmac we just love fresh air!
Leap forward
Now is the time for another leap forward at Pixmac. It might be controversial, but believe us, this is the future of microstock. Let’s get things straight. We’re all here to build a profitable business or at the very least a profitable hobby.
Recently our Pixmac strategic planning executive team focused on extensive research and came up with an idea. If we really want to satisfy contributors and content suppliers we need to have the best tools to do this. So that is what we are doing…creating these tools.
Why iSyndica?
We’ve chosen iSyndica as an exclusive partner for photographers and illustrators coming to Pixmac because we are sure that they are doing great job with the upload process.
Lock-in is a history
In accordance with our mission to be a fair and open company, we are removing the lock-in time at Pixmac. It was 12 months, now there is no lock-in time. We know that it was a pain for some of you and that is why we are changing this condition.
One site for sales. One for upload.
Pixmac is going to be the best platform for people that need to buy photos and illustrations. We will do everything possible to save our customers time and manage a great site. iSyndica is a platform to do the other part of this job. The upload and management for photographers. Both Pixmac and iSyndica use Amazon Web Services for hosting the files, so the communication between us is a breeze.
For the contributors, it is even easier. A contributor has one platform to deal with, so he or she doesn’t need to visit multiple sites to check sales, manage or upload new content.
Other agencies want exclusivity. Why not Pixmac?
Microstock is still under heavy construction and dynamic changes. Since 2001 the traditional stock industry has suffered partly due to Exclusivity and this has contributed to the microstock industry steady growth. But this is not the end. We believe that in the end, there will be no place for the exclusive contributor-seller partnership. Everything will be more or less similar to the traditional way of selling photos. So as Vitezslav Valka, Pixmac’s CEO says: “In the end, everybody will be selling everything.”
Exclusivity is good for the agencies but rarely beneficial for the contributor. The world is big enough to handle multiple stock photo sites. Contributors that lock their images to one agency just cut off their sales and restrict opportunities for new customers to find their images.
How that works?
For new contributors, we are regularly checking the iSyndica database for any contributors that have more than 50 images and may be interested in Pixmac. If there is an artist that has selling potential for Pixmac, we are going to sell his/her imagery with a single click. Selling potential is based on current sales or overall quality of portfolio.
The regular approval process is gone?
Yes. This is the end of per-image approval. That was the old way. We believe that there are good and not so good photographers and illustrators. Images might be misunderstood by the person who approves the images, those rejected images could possibly be bestsellers in the future.
We’re going to improve the Pixmac search to perfection. Our search engine will check every photo and illustration for multiple data in time. That is analyzed and later there will be only great photos on the first pages. this is the same feature that Google is providing with hypertext. This is a kind of self learning mechanism that will offer the right images to the right user.
I am a Pixmac contributor already. What happens?
Current users will remain in the same situation as they were. In the future, we are going to optimize the process even for current contributors. So if you are a Pixmac contributor already be ready for some fresh news to come.
Tell us what you think. Pixmac is flexible!
Pixmac will be always listening to our users’ needs. So if there is anything that may be answered by our crew, just put a note here or let us know by email or customer support. We are listening and we are always looking for solutions.

Hi. I just noticed that your site looks like it has a few code errors at the very top of your website’s page. I’m not sure if everybody is getting this same bugginess when browsing your blog? I am employing a totally different browser than most people, referred to as Opera, so that is what might be causing it? I just wanted to make sure you know. Thanks for posting some great postings and I’ll try to return back with a completely different browser to check things out!
